Le Singe is part of the Zoo collection designed by Jaime Hayon for Baccarat. For Baccarat, Jaime Hayon reinvents the way to collect animal figurines and gives them a genuine box function. Each figurine tells an imaginative and humorous story. The collection follows in the footsteps of his Crystal Candy Set designed in 2009 and the Candy Light lamp launched during the Milan 2011 tradeshow. The collection is composed of 6 items that play on a combination of materials. The clear or coloured crystal top rests on mass-coloured porcelain with a matte finish exterior and a shiny or gold finish interior.

In 1764, the authority of King Louis XV of France to the bishop of Metz, Bishop de Montmorency-Laval, founded a glassworks in the village of Baccarat in eastern France in Lorraine. After 52 years, the first crystal oven starts at Baccarat. The export starts early Baccarat: 1830.
