RECYCLING
Separation of waste plays and important role in the integrated management system of waste as it allows, on one hand, the reduction of the amounts sent on for disposal and, on the other, to positive conditioning of the entire management system. To make certain that waste is correctly disposed of and recycled; waste must be kept separate according to the material class it belongs to.

The Interior Architect and Designer, Gianluca Solid, has always been in touch with the environment and has personally designed and created an object that meets the needs of domestic waste separation in order to educate the population to correctly dispose of waste in order to be able to consequently recycle it. Enter the "Ovetto differenziato" (Recycling Egg), an object of interior design that unites functionality, design, and environmental education.

FUNCTION
To promote domestic recycling, an object was needed that met the primary need of practicality.
This container is divided into three compartments, which are distinguished with three different colors that match those of the outdoor recycling dumpsters. (for example paper and cardboard, organic waste, etc.).
Each compartment has a door for bag removal - which is also the same color as the compartment - and a small opening with a cover for waste deposit. The covers close tightly so that bad odors cannot escape. On the top, in the center, there is a crusher for plastic bottles that reduces the volume of the waste, allowing a larger number of bottles to be collected.

DESIGN
The "OVETTO" shape of the container, its colors, as well as its soft and tapered line, makes it a designer item that will fit into any room, with any furnishings. This is an item that can be placed in a house or work environment, office, school, etc; or outside on a terrace or in a garden.

ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION
This item not only meets the primary need of function and beauty; it also serves to educate people to respect the environment by helping them correctly dispose of waste, so that it can be recycled, by increasing number of "habits" performed daily, during everyday life.  For this reason, this container could also be used in open spaces, in all public areas where it is necessary that this "habit" continue; to identify waste prior to tossing it into the provided container.  

MATERIAL
This piece is manufactured in recycled polypropylene; the polymer used comes from a minimum of 40% and a maximum of 70% recycled material

DIMENSIONS
Ovetto has the following footprint:
diameter 46 cm, height 84 cm.
Thirty liter bags can be inserted into each of the compartments.

A DESIGN FOR THE FUTURE
The item's industrial production is designed to use recycled materials and to be assembled for distribution by fair trade cooperatives.
It stems from a "mission" based on three fundamental objectives:

ECOLOGY:
use of recyclable materials and respect for the environment.

EDUCATION:
a project to educate people - starting in the home - to recycle waste.

SOLIDARITY:
the waste of modern and industrialized society provides employment opportunities for those living on the edge of society, able to restore their confidence and dignity allow them to return to the civil community.
